Church Banners

I think I am being a bit crazy - I'm not a great sewer although I can cross stitch and like a mad fool that I am I have decided to make some church banners after only doing a day course with another church.

Today we have been and bought the fabrics and I have my idea in my head but now I need to make it. Aaaah! If anyone out there knows of any tips or ideas or has any info about making church banners then I would certainly be greatful for all the advice that is available.
